Dr. Li-Chen Cheng is currently a Professor in the Department of Information and Finance Management. Her research focuses on the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for large-scale data analytics across diverse sectors, with the aim of supporting organizational decision-making, strategic planning, and service innovation. Her work integrates advanced AI methods—including deep learning, natural language processing, and generative AI—with management theory and domain-specific professional knowledge, enabling the translation of analytical outcomes into practical, scalable, and socially relevant solutions. All research outputs are published in rigorously peer-reviewed international journals.

Her scholarly contributions span several core application domains of AI:

  • Business and Electronic Commerce, with publications in leading journals recommended by national research councils, including Decision Support Systems (SCI, Q1), Information Processing & Management (SSCI, Q1), Electronic Commerce Research, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, and Journal of Global Information Management. This research stream addresses opinion mining, recommender systems, consumer behavior analysis, and strategic decision support.

  • Healthcare and Digital Health, with research published in Journal of Medical Internet Research (SSCI, Q1), JMIR Formative Research (SCI), and Clinical Interventions in Aging (ESCI). This work focuses on mental health support, ageing care, and clinically grounded digital interventions that combine system design with empirical evaluation.

  • Finance and Financial Analytics, with publications in Neurocomputing (SCI), International Review of Financial Analysis (SSCI), and Financial Innovation (SSCI), addressing predictive modelling, trading strategies, and financial decision support.

  • Education, with studies published in Interactive Learning Environments (SSCI, Q1), examining the role of intelligent systems in enhancing learning outcomes and pedagogical effectiveness.

She have further consolidated her expertise in deep learning and natural language processing, while actively engaging in interdisciplinary and industry–academic collaborations. These collaborations include hospital-based digital mental health projects demonstrating high user acceptance and clinical effectiveness, as well as industry partnerships in e-commerce platforms and accounting automation, where AI solutions have supported operational efficiency and digital transformation.

Dr Cheng serves as an editorial board member and a reviewer for more than 10 academic journals. She has published papers in in well organized SSCI and SCI journals including Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, Journal of Information Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Applied Soft Computing and many others.

She was a visiting scholar The George Washington University (GW) at 2015 summer vacation.

At present, the teaching courses include two main axes, one is the professional courses related to information management, and the other is the courses in information technology.

She was previously a faculty member at Soochow University at Taiwan. She received her Ph.D. degree in information management from National Central University.
